Do I have to be O-negative to donate?
No. Every blood type is needed and welcome. The movement is named for the 7%, but it's built by everyone who donates.
I don't know my blood type. Can I still come?
Absolutely — that's one of the best reasons to come. Your blood type is typically shared with you after your donation.
I've never donated before. Is that okay?
Yes. First-time donors are welcome. Vitalant's team will walk you through everything. Plan for about an hour, eat well, and drink plenty of water beforehand.
Who can donate blood?
In general, donors are at least 16 or 17 (depending on state rules), weigh at least 110 lbs, and are in good health. Vitalant confirms final eligibility on the day.
Is the pledge an appointment?
No — it's a headcount so we can plan. We'll share how to book your actual donation time ahead of the drive.
I'm not in Las Vegas. How can I take part?
Pledge to donate where you live. On February 13, 2027, give blood at a local donation center and help build the first nationwide 7% Day.
What is the 7% Day?
An annual observance held on the seventh Saturday of the year, bringing O-negative donors — and everyone who stands with them — together to give.
